Comprare casa a Londra 2021

Situation of the British real estate market - Autumn 2021

After a couple of years of great uncertainty due to Brexit and Covid 19, the London property market is returning to normal and there are strong signs of growth in both the sales and rental sectors.

So this is the best time to invest and buy a house in the UK as the UK government has introduced tax breaks. To become owners it will be enough to have a sum equal to 5% of the value of the house and obtain a mortgage for the remaining 95%, easier to obtain than in the recent past, as it will be guaranteed by the Treasury. Among the other important measures adopted, the suspension of stamp duties for properties worth less than 500 thousand pounds, which represent 90% of sales in Great Britain, and the reduction of the tax for properties over half a million have been extended.

Buying a house in the UK: is it worth it?

For us Europeans at this moment we absolutely see that the pound has lost value against the euro and especially in central London you can take the opportunity to do great deals such as in the most beautiful areas of Holland Park and Notting Hill.

In recent years, Italians have not made large purchases in the London market both because of the Brexit which has somewhat discouraged and the restrictions from Covid which has literally blocked travel.

Having said that, however, I believe that it is a moment in which families are saving money and are thinking a lot about the future, especially of their children. This is why my family is seriously considering investing in London for the purchase of a small property to avoid paying high rents when my daughter goes to study in London.

This has always been her life project and while she is attending high school waiting to start her university career in the U.K. the ideal solution is to start paying a mortgage right now to avoid being unable to do so in a few years.

This is why I tried to have an estimate of the accessibility of the mortgage based on income and I must say that in a short time I really got an idea of what is possible to achieve in the medium term.

Buying a house in London 2021

Before taking the plunge, it is good to read up on authoritative financial news sites such as the Wall Street Journal for the part relating to foreign news while on Il Sole 24 Ore to get all the information on the Italian national situation.

Personally I believe that it is an opportunity not to be underestimated thinking about the future of those who have children of school age and who want to invest both in their future and in that of a property since we parents of teenagers know very well that the working reality of our children does not will be here at home.
